SCHENECTADY - The First United Methodist Church on Sunday will celebrate the 10th anniversary of becoming a reconciling congregation.
Fifty stoles, the scarf-like vestment worn by clergy, will be on display from the Shower of Stoles Project, a collection of hundreds of stoles from gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people from 23 denominations in five countries.
Six churches and a synagogue form an alliance called the Schenectady Congregations for Sexual Inclusiveness, which have voted to make a public statement supporting the inclusion of people of all sexual orientations in their ministries.
