Together with Imam Hanooti, whose expressions of peace, tolerance and interfaith harmony have appeared in your paper, and Mohammed Siddiqui (letter, July 19), I also wish to express my sympathy for the Palestinian people and their oppression.

Instead of leaders with vision like Gandhi or Martin Luther King Jr., the Palestinians have been saddled for decades with the likes of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the el-Aqsa Brigades and Yasir Arafat, the father of modern terrorism.
