Vic: State Treasurer bashes bank for job cuts
Victorian Treasurer JOHN BRUMBY says it's a bit rich for the Commonwealth Bank to announcea big hike in profits and then cut jobs.
The bank yesterday posted a $2.66 billion profit and announced plans to cut 1,000 jobs.
Mr BRUMBY has called on the bank to re-think the job cuts.
He says the state government takes a dim view of companies who increase profits by11 per cent and then reduce jobs in regional Victoria.
The ACTU has also condemned the bank's job cut plans.
